a5c7b9f00b In latter-21st-century Gotham City, The Jokerz, a street gang enamored of the city's infamous Clown Prince Of Crime, is breaking into a high-tech engineering plant to steal a powerful generator, a crime stopped by the new Batman (Terry McGuiness) and which puzzles Terry and his mentor, the elderly original Batman Bruce Wayne. The reason for this and other "geek junk" thefts is a mystery even to The Jokerz gang, who are now working for someone claiming to be the original Joker himself. When he makes an appearence at a charity function attended by Bruce Wayne (cover to steal another generator), the Joker taunts Wayne, and later sends his minions to attack Terry McGuiness while he attacks the Batcave. But the original Joker died forty years earlier, and why does this new Joker want high-tech items? When a shaken Barbara Gordon explains the fate of the original Joker, Terry begins to piece the twin mysteries together, culimating in a confrontation with the Joker that literally threatens the very existence of Gotham City.
This movie inspired by the animated series, BATMAN BEYOND, finds Batman facing his greatest adversary The Joker, only problem is that the original Batman, Bruce Wayne already took care of him years ago. So the new Batman, Terry McGinnis has to find out how is this possible and to do that he has to find out what happened only problem is that Bruce doesn't want to talk about it.
I love Batman. I like Batman Beyond…however, The series involves so many "super" villians the like of which were not really a part of the batman original animated series or comic book.<br/><br/>Now "Return of the Joker", that's more of what I need. Most of you know, the Joker was not imbued with any "super powers". That's what made him so dangerous. He is completely insane! All sorts of insane, too. He's wacky crazy and he's cold psychotic. Now I won't give anything away but this is very close to what I would like to see in a Batman cartoon for kids today. Flashback to Bruce Waynethe Batman, NO super powers for anyone, and good character development for both Terry (the new Batman) and Bruce Wayne. With all sorts of reference to the "good old days" of Batgirl, Robin, the Joker, and my favorite, Harley Quinn. I suppose for this I credit the writers. Good job boys!<br/><br/>Let us not forget, however, the superb voice acting throughout the movie. I don't want to name names in case I forget anyone, but it is all just perfect. The producers, I guess, will get credit for re-casting all the original voices for any returning characters. Good work to you allwell! And those of you who did act…I love you…*kiss*<br/><br/>Finally, animation. What's not to like? Very fluid movements, proper use of color, which is very underrated in animation, but very very important. The backgrounds in future Gotham city have a very Blade-Runner-esque look and feel to them. I'ts been said a thousand times…because it's true. Go watch Blade Runner right now then watch Return of the Joker and then you will see. I would like to point out especially how much I like the way Bruce Wayne looks in this series, he's old all right, but you can see the Batman in him. The fact that he walks with a cane is good to see. If he could walk without it, I'd like to believe he'd still be the Batman.<br/><br/>Overall this is a 9 out of ten star movie. 10 for the look, 10 for the writing 10, for the acting. Why 9 in the end? Batman flys. 'Nuff said.
I just saw this a few days ago, and I was practically on the edge of my seat never knowing what twist might come next. The animation was great, and the storyline was a real twister. Seeing some old faces show up was a great surprise along with other further ideas the creators have to offer for this show in the near future. To finally get some background on what happened to some of the other characters in the show in the future was great!!! Let's just hope the creators of the show keep up the great work and we can see some more glimpes of some of whatever became of ?

"Batman Beyond" takes place about 40 years after the "New Batman Adventures" series. At the time of the show's release a precise date was given2039. Meaning Bruce Wayne quit being Batman in 2019 (as seen in ''Rebirth''). This also means the episode, ''Epilogue'' takes place in the year 2056. Terry McGinnis himself has a given birth-date of 2023.<br/><br/> Due to a political uproar against violence in animated movies at that time Warner Bros. canceled the release and edited the movie to a version that was then released worldwide. In the beginning of 2001 the original and uncensored version was released in the USA, on top of that in Anamorphic Widescreen while earlier releases had been only presented in Fullscreen.
